A total of 42 deaths were added to Israel's list of fallen soldiers between the previous Remembrance Day, יום זיכרון until now. https://www.jpost.com/arab-israeli-conflict/42-fallen-soldiers-since-last-remembrance-day-ceremonies-held-online-625763)
There are another 33 disabled soldiers dying as a result of injuries sustained while in the defense services.
That is the cost to keep us Israelis safe and free.
On Monday at 8 PM a siren will go off. and another one on Tuesday at 11 AM, during which the country stands still for a moment of silence and remembrance for the fallen soldiers of the IDF.
May their memory be for a blessing.
Only Simchas.
Shabbat Shalom, Good Chodesh,
Shabbat Shalom, Good Chodesh,

Thanks for sharing these words of inspiration week after week.
ReplyDeleteWe read in a midrash on Megillas Esther that giving credit where due speeds the redemption. (I'm paraphrasing here!)
In today's digital age, it's very easy to take things that aren't our own. I notice you gave credit to the original authors, but it would be nice to also include a link to their original article so the Jerusalem Post -- can maybe earn a few pennies to keep paying them for their work: https://www.jpost.com/arab-israeli-conflict/42-fallen-soldiers-since-last-remembrance-day-ceremonies-held-online-625763
And the photo you've chosen to accompany this is not only copyrighted to Andrew Burton, but is licensed by Getty Images, so you might in fact get in a ton of trouble for using it without permission (source: http://darkroom.baltimoresun.com/2014/07/deadliest-day-in-gaza-war/#3). I see that it is all over the internet, so probably a lot of people have used it without permission, but that doesn't necessarily make it right. In the Torah world, we have to go above and beyond.
Thank you for the kind words.
DeleteAnd I appreciate very much your comments, and have taken then following actions:
A link to the Jerusalem Post article has been added.
A photo that I own has replaced the photo in question.
